Chiropractic - 'Your Health in Our Hands'
How can Chiropractic help me?
Chiropractors use their hands to restore normal movement of restricted joints of the spine and limbs. Incorrect joint movement leads to increase strain resulting in injury to the joint, muscles, ligaments and nerves and eventually pain.
By restoring normal movement to your joints you remove the strain on ligaments, relieve muscle spasm, improve how the spinal discs perform and release nerves that may be 'trapped' so reducing pain. 'Trapped' nerves not only cause pain but because the nervous system keeps all your body's organs working well, this can affect your overall health and wellbeing. If neglected, poor joint movement can lead to early 'wear and tear' (osteoarthritis).
Regular chiropractic check-up appointments will help to maintain your health.
What happens on your first visit?
At your first visit, a case history and examination of the painful and related areas are performed This may include X-rays (if clinically necessary). A diagnosis is made and the cause identified which is explained to you. The tratment plan designed specifically for your condition will then also be discussed.
What is the chiropractic 'click'?
The Chiropractic manipulative 'adjustment' is made to restore normal joint movement. It is often accompanied with the sound of an audible release of the joint. This is due to a vacuum being formed when the joint surfaces separate and then release. This is one of the ways that chiropractors help to to relieve painful joints. The treatment improves overall joint function, reduces inflammation and muscle spasm thereby relieving pain.
What exercises should I do?
An exercise rehabilitation programme will be designed specifically for you and your condition to achieve the maximum benefit from your treatment. This is an essential part of your recovery process and will help prevent reoccurence of your pain by strengthening and providing stability for your problem area.
