Massage
Massage is a specific manual therapy of the soft tissues of the body, working specifically on the musculature to reduce tension and assist in reducing stiffness around the joints.

How does massage work?

Massage techniques stimulate blood flow to increase the uptake of oxygen and other vital nutrients needed for the repair of damaged tissues and removal of scar tissue.  Often when an injury occurs, scar tissue forms within the tissue causing stiffness, a decreased range of movement and weakness.

Following injury, massage, along with stretching and strengthening exercises will help to breakdown the scar tissue, restoring flexibility and strength.

Massage is often used in combination with other physical therapy such as chiropractic and physiotherapy and is used to speed recovery.

What conditions can be treated with massage?

  • Muscle spasm and tension
  • Back and neck tension
  • Muscle strains
  • Joint sprains
  • Postural fatigue
  • Sports Injuries
  • Increasing blood flow and speeding recovery
  • Reduction of scar tissue and adhesions following injury
